Reconciling multilingualism with English as a lingua franca: Realistic policy or wishful thinking?
Organiser Seidlhofer, Barbara
U of Vienna · Austria
The ideal of European multilingualism and the predominant role of English (most often used as a lingua franca) in today's world are often perceived as opposing and conflicting forces. The aim of this symposium is to bring together representatives of both the 'multilingualism side' as well as the 'English as a lingua franca (ELF) side' in order to subject this assumption to critical discussion.
