Ruhrland Museum
From early history up to the present day, the chronicle of the Ruhr district as a whole is told in one of the most exciting exhibitions in the region. When the Ruhr land museum packs its cases in 2007 and moves from the museum centre to Zollverein, the visitors of the former coal washing installation can obtain first hand experience of the way people in the industrial era lived and worked. This regional museum, in existence for more than 100 years, comprises the following departments: geology, archaeology, history and photography. The mineral museum, the museum landscape Deilbachtal, a geological hiking trail, the Halbachhammer and a show flat in the Margarethenhöhe estate are external museum sites.
